The 55th Anniversary of the Reno Air Races Performers!
*(Will be updated with more performers accordingly)*
The Canadian Forces Snowbirds
Officially known as the Canadian Forces 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, the Snowbirds are Canada's military aerobatics or air show flight demonstration team whose purpose is to "demonstrate the skill, professionalism, and teamwork of Canadian Forces personnel". The squadron is based at 15 Wing, near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The Snowbirds are the first Canadian air demonstration team to be designated as a squadron. The show team flies 11 CT-114 Tutors—nine for aerobatic performances, including two solo aircraft, and two as spares, flown by the team coordinators. Approximately 80 Canadian Forces personnel work with the squadron full time; 24 personnel are in the show team that travels during the show season. The Snowbirds are the only major military aerobatics team that operates without a support aircraft. As long as the plans fall into place, the Snowbirds will be taking over the Thunderbirds for Thursday-Sunday of race week.
The USAF Thunderbirds (Wed. Only!)
Millions of people have witnessed the Thunderbirds demonstrations, and in turn, they’ve seen the pride, professionalism and dedication of hundreds of thousands of Airmen serving at home and abroad. Each year brings another opportunity for the team to represent those who deserve the most credit: the everyday, hard-working Airmen voluntarily serving America and defending freedom. The Thunderbirds 2018 schedule has the Reno Air Races on it, but there is a catch. As of now, the Thunderbirds are only listed to perform on the Wednesday of race week as they have another airshow on the weekend of Reno. Hopefully Reno will get to have the Thunderbirds perform on Wednesday of race week and maybe draw in some extra attendants earlier than usual!
